STEP Workshop
Planning for loss of mental capacity: the tools and laws to protect you and your family’s financial future
13:30-15:00 26th October
Planning for loss of mental capacity is an important part of estate/succession planning. Being able to express your wishes and make decisions is a fundamental human right.
Come and hear how to put plans in place to protect you and your family’s financial future. We’ll also tell you about the findings of our research report ‘Loss of Mental Capacity – A Global Perspective’ and our work to drive awareness and legal protections to safeguard vulnerable persons against financial abuse.
We shall share detail of the legal frameworks that enable forward-planning for loss of capacity, with a focus on China and Singapore. We’ll also share where sadly there is much scope for legal improvements globally and about our exciting work to encourage governments to adopt common, consistent and robust legislation that is internationally recognised by way of the STEP Global Representative Power.
We also want to hear from you! There is ample time for questions and to hear from the audience about the state of the legal frameworks where you are based, to see where we might be able to ‘STEP’ in to help drive change.
This workshop has been made possible through STEP’s partnership with Alzheimer's Disease International.
