Symposium Introduction

Optimising support for carers of people with dementia by implementing the World Health Organization’s iSupport for Dementia Program

15:30-17:00 October 25, 2024

The WHO Western Pacific Region is homes for a large population of people with dementia and most of them are cared by family carers. Prolonged exposure to carer burden is associated with poor health and quality of life for both carers and their care recipients and disease burden on the health care systems. This symposium is important as it reports various innovative solutions to embed the WHO’s iSupport for Dementia Program into health and social care systems in Australia and China to optimise support for family carers, improve their capability in dementia care, reduce their stresses and stabilise home care.
